NEW DELHI, India–December 14 to 17, 2016–The NESA Center, along with the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF), conducted a three-day conference entitled “Security Along the Silk Road.” The conference included experts from Central Asia and South Asia, East Asia, and Europe and focused on the economic, political, and human security dimensions of Central Asia and its surrounding regions. The seminar addressed several crucial concepts including the challenges of political development in Central Asia post-independence, the effects of terrorism and violent extremism on regional development, reconnecting economic development along the ‘Silk Road’, and looking for opportunities to expand external investment.
Over 30 participants took part in the conference which was located at the offices of Vivekananda International Foundation in New Delhi. NESA Dean Dr. Roger Kangas served as the course Director and Manager of Academic Affairs Mr. Jeffrey Payne provided academic support during the conference.
